How safe it is to use texmod and cartographer made easy?
Well, i'm here to ask something that caused a real panic situation a time ago.
I am looking to finish my titles and it is time to do cartographer one and I was wondering if it is and how safe it is to use the texmod+cartographer right now. Just as an information, I use Kaspersky Internet Security and already made a Paranoic PC check at everything I could and nothing was detect on my PC, at Texmod and at Cartographer things to load. So with all this in mind and the fact that NOTHING IN MY COMPUTER IS INFECTED WITH EVIL PROGRAMS do I still have a chance to be banned or something like it? |

I am quite sure it is perfectly safe to use texmod.
Somewhere on a guildwars wiki site there is a response from A-net which says that it is legal. |

It is 90% safe
Unless you know and absolutely trust the source of the program you can never be 100% sure it isn't about to harm your computer in some way. Many have used it myself included and I have never had any problem. |

Anet hasn't banned anyone for using texmod. The cartography-made-easy mod you'll find linked on wiki is perfectly safe. As with all downloads, make sure your anti-virus program is screening it before you run it.
Also, you'd be wise to run a spyware detection/removal program. There are plenty of free ones out there. Anti-virus programs don't always perform this function adequately. |

Pretty safe. I used it for nightfall/factions. Its easy enough to get cartographer without it too though. I did prophecies/Eye of the north without it just because at the time I have windows 7, and i couldn't get textmod to work.makes me sad cuz I want to make some custom graphics lol.

How do you know if you have a clean copy? 1. Compare checksum to a known clean version. 2. Jotti. Done. |

ArenaNet is ok with programs that do not attempt to give you a game play advantage. Texmod is a graphics program that only affects your computer. The majority of the bans concerning third party programs are for botting. They do not allow any program that allows you to play without using your keyboard and mouse continuously. As Texmod is not automated, you are fine.

A commercial program is generally safe because the company has too much to lose by selling infected software and is very unlikely to add code that does things in the background. An individual who writes such a program could add code for their own purposes. I completely trust texmod based on my experience with it and have no reason to suspect the creator of this excellent program. If the same person wrote a program to run accounts would I input all my bank details and trust if completely, nope |

I used texmod myself and not ashamed to admit, would be nice if we could get an official quote regarding it though. When the banhammer was being swung I got very paranoid that it might hit me for using it. As others have said it's on wiki, but still, official word would be nice!

When asked about programs like Texmod, this was ArenaNet's answer via Gailes' wiki page. But keep in mind that the question doesn't mean that someone really got banned for only using Texmod. Very few banned players come on a forum to admit in writing that they were botting or guilty of match manipulation which is the premier reasons for account bans, along with gold selling.
ArenaNet has stated before that they "don't have a problem" with programs that only affect your computer and not the game play, but they don't "approve" them in any way or offer support for any problems you have while using them. They have no way of knowing at what point such a program might be altered to affect game play, so, yes, using Texmod is at your own risk. But as long as it is only recoloring your screen, you are normally safe. http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/User:...ot_Ban_Details Quote:
